Biosecurity and Zoonoses Workshop
ABWAK, in conjunction with Fife Zoo, is pleased to bring you the first in a new series of workshops tailored specifically to the needs of zoo managers and more senior animal care professionals - or those with ambition to progress to those positions.
As a zoo manager or senior-level keeper you may well be expected to have knowledge and experience of animal health management on both theoretical and applied levels. With stricter legislative requirements than ever before, it is critical that you are armed with the knowledge to navigate these in order both to remain compliant and to uphold the wellbeing of your zoo's animals.
This bespoke workshop, delivered by industry-renowned experts Matt Hartley (Zoo and Wildlife Solutions) and Kevin Eatwell (Fife Exotic Vets), covers the inter-related core topics in zoo animal health. It aims to provide an overview of the ethical and legislative requirements regarding the management of animal health and an understanding of how important these are to supporting your zoo operation.
Workshop will cover:
- Confined Establishments and Balai - What and Why?
- Preventative Medicine
- Biosecurity
- Managing Isolation and Quarantine.
- Zoonoses
- Imports and Exports.
